Advice
The tariffs are subject to any rise that the different operating organizations of intermediate services, the national institute of culture of Peru and Peru Rail S.A. could determine.
Note
- For the traditional Inca Trail the passenger has to carry himself his sleeping bag, his mattress and his personal stuff.
- If the passenger does not want to carry his personal stuff himself, hi has to ask for an extra porter with costs.
Recommendations
- For every excursion the passengers have to bring with them the following personal things:
Water or purification pills, sun cream, mosquito repellent, flashlight, plastic covers, sun glasses, binoculars and some money. Besides, the original passport and students as well their international student card ISIC.
- The best time for the excursions of the alternative Inca Trails is between the months April and November, due to the rain season in the following months. The traditional Inca Trail you can do throughout the year except in February, when the route is closed for maintenance works.
- The reservations for the Inca Trail have to be realized at least 3 months in advance because of the high season (May to October) and of the limited entrances (500 persons per day). For the alternatives trails do not exist limits, so you can do your reservation up to one week in advance.
- The manners of the payment for the reservations for any excursion has to be as follows:
- 40 % of the total costs by transfer by Western Union
- The remaining 60 % in our office in Cusco – Peru

- APU SALKANTAY helps you gratuitously for the reservation of inns, hostels, hotels and others whose prices are higher than USD 10.000
- For the characteristics of the geography, the climate and mainly of the altitude as well as the physic effort in the excursions, it is not recommendable to do an excursion for passengers suffering from heart-troubles, asthma and convulsions.
